17 Down, 1 To Go..!

After 17 rounds of League action so far, give or take the odd shower, the final weekend of Season 2016 is looming large…and what a weekend it could be for the Club!

So, on Saturday (27th) –

  • At the end of only their first season in the SWCA, our ‘A’ XI will clinch promotion from Division 7 to Division 6 if they defeat Neath at Murton!! Remarkably, it was apparently not raining at Margam Park yesterday(!) where the home side defeated fellow promotion rivals Landore to nip into 2nd spot behind Ammanford. However, Margam have a bye on Saturday and only a six point lead over MCC!
  • Our 2nd XI would finish outright runners-up in their Premier League Division if they amass more points than rivals Ynystawe. After yesterday’s home match v Port Talbot was unfortunately rained off, Port Talbot were confirmed as champions, leaving MCC and Ynystawe tied in 2nd spot! If that remains the case after next Saturday’s games, Stuart Seaton’s Men will pip Ynystawe as they have won more games. Our 2nd XI play Ammanford at Marespool, start 12.30pm
  • The 1st XI will be looking to consolidate their mid-table position when they travel to Ammanford. This time last year, our boys were facing the distinct possibility of relegation so this season’s campaign of consolidation in the Premier League’s 1st Division has been a definite improvement.

THEN…on Bank Holiday Monday (29th)..

  • The 1st XI contest the rearranged Welsh Cup Final at Neath CC when they take on Penarth!!

After the weather saw to it that today’s originally scheduled encounter had to be postponed, we could not ask for a more exciting finale to this season! The action kicks off at 1pm!

Good luck to all our players!
