Charity Support

Mumbles Cricket Club has always been committed to its wider role in the local community.

Wherever possible, the Club is dedicated to supporting and contributing to local causes. For many years now, our Club has worked closely with local charities and volunteer organisations to help them raise money for a wide variety of excellent causes.

Our Marespool ground and recently extended Clubhouse hosts numerous fund raising events for organisations including the Mumbles Lifeboat, RNLI, Maggie’s Centre, India Monsoon Disaster Fund, Friends of Oystermouth Castle, local sorts clubs, Mumbles Lifeguards, Langland Lifeguards, Mumbles Community Council, Oystermouth School PTA, Newton School PTA, Llwynderw School PTA, Oakleigh House School PTA, St David’s School PTA, Grange School PTA and, of course, the annual Macmillan Round Gower Walk.

2018 was yet another busy season supporting charity fund raising, for both local and national causes. For the eleventh year running we were again proud to host the end of The Macmillan Round Gower Walk when more than 1100 walkers, their familes and friends were at Marespool. Macmillan has raised more than £220,000 from this year’s event..a record! AND over £1.7m in total from the twenty walks to date!!

Other events were hosted for The Motor Neurone Disease Association, The Golau Cancer Association and The Neath Port Talbot Child Contact Centre.

The Club also hosted many other local volunteer and fund raising events. On the cricketing front, Mumbles Cricket continues to organise and host its annual Kwik Cricket Festival for local schools giving young boys and girls an early taste of cricket.

The Festival is in addition to the Club’s volunteers running softball cricket on Sunday mornings for up to 100 boys and girls in the Under 9 age group and, of course, the Academy XI & 7 Junior League sides playing throughout the season.

Marespool also hosts meetings for several local residents’ associations.
