Rosser Rocks Marespool!

Sunday 2nd XI Premier League cricket arrived at Marespool yesterday (14th) as Stuart Seaton’s Men took on Swansea. And, after their defeat at Neath the day beforehand, with it came the immediate opportunity to “get the show back on the road”.

Seats won the toss, batted and settled down to hopefully watch his young team go to work. And go to work they did!

Gareth Baglow (20, 3 fours) and Tom Davies (29, 5 fours) got things off to a good start with an opening stand of 49. But how these two must have rued getting out when apparently well set…they were then shown how to do it by Ieuan Rosser! He was joined by Conor Stone at 73-2 and it was their partnership of 121 in lightning time that really did for Swansea. Conor was third out (37, 3 fours) when the board read 194. The remaining support acts came in and feasted on the crumbs from Ieuan’s table…Seats (55, 7 fours & a six), Will Turner (36, 1 four) and Rahul Shah (24, 2 fours & a six) all helped themselves after Ieuan had already destroyed the visitors’ attack for 106, including 15 fours & 1 maximum! MCC 338 all out at tea!

Swansea surrendered meekly on the resumption, having no answer to the consistency of the home attack. Gavin Williams (3-25), Luke Brown (1-17), Sam Harris (2-42), Rahul (1-35), Phil Roche (1-7) and Tom (2-8) shared the wickets as Swansea were bowled out for 146 in the 42nd over…Seats’ Men had triumphed by 192 runs!
