‘A’ XI HONOURS!

Following the results last Saturday, when their game at Cimla was rained off, our ‘A’ XI have now been crowned…

Champs of SWCA Division 6 East for 2017!

With this comes yet another promotion for next season! This is a truly remarkable performance all round as the team first played in the SWCA only last summer, having dominated the West Wales Cricket Association for so many years beforehand…two promotions in two seasons!

Hats off to all the guys, where the age range has spanned 12 – 65! Fair play, like!

And, re the piece presently on this website following the 2nd XI’s success on the weekend, exactly the same appreciation and wholesome acknowledgement must be made of all the work carried out by Captain Alex Protheroe throughout the campaign. Apart from clinching the League title, he led his often weakened team to the semi-final of the SWCA Intermediate Cup, losing to Dafen who play their league cricket three divisions higher than our guys…though that gap is now closing!

Alex’s job off the field is made all the more difficult than other sides as it is he who is faced with the full affects of unavailability of players in our 1st & 2nd XIs, as well as amongst his own players. Unlike some clubs, however, we have never failed to field a team and, quite remarkably, Alex’s ‘A’ XI has won all its league games thus far this season! Two games to go, so the aim here is obvious!

Well done, Alex, you have done a great job for your players and your Club again this year! And, to all the players regardless of age (!), you have each been magnificent both with your own efforts & contribution and your support of your captain…top effort all round!
