2nd XI Fixtures 2015

It has been confirmed that, with effect from the 2015 season, there will be a Second Division of the South Wales Premier League.

As with the existing First Division, this new division will comprise ten clubs – five leading clubs from each of the 1st divisions of the SWPCL feeder leagues i.e. the SWCA and the Glamorgan & Monmouthshire League. The ten clubs forming this division will be Swansea, Tata Steel, Ynystawe, Aberdare, Carmarthen Wanderers, Tondu, Panteg, Pentyrch, Miskin Manor and Penarth.

As a separate matter, some present Premier League 1st Division clubs have found the travelling to games for their 2nd XI teams to be an issue. So, to try to help here, the basis of Premier League 2nd XI fixtures is to be altered as from the forthcoming season.

Hitherto, 2nd XI fixtures have mirrored 1st XI fixtures each Saturday. From now on, this will not be the case – the twenty 2nd XIs within the Premier League will be divided geographically into two divisions, East & West. The clubs within each division will then play each other twice, once home & once away as before. It follows therefore that, for example, Ammanford & Carmarthen Wanders will no longer need to travel to say Newport or Panteg for 2nd XI fixtures.

This year’s 2nd XI fixtures have now been posted to both this site (under “Senior Cricket”) and our Play-Cricket
