BOMBER HARRIS LIVES!

The good news is that each of our three Senior League games at least started yesterday (11th). Only one finished, however, and that was a shame in the event!

At Murton, the ‘A’ XI game v Drefach was reduced from 40 to 29 overs per side, owing to the latest rain – MCC batted first.

And during our 29 overs, Captain Morgan’s Men notched up 158-7. Of that, opener Alan Harris carried out a bombing raid whilst helping himself to 117 runs, with 8 fours & 6 sixes!! During his time at the crease, he took part in stands of 76 with Vinnie Sabharwal (22) and 56 with Stuart Seaton (7)! Neat, Al!

Richie Rain returned so there was no more play to be had after that!

At Marespool, Dafen 2nd XI gathered 131-2 from 24 overs before the rains brought about an early tea and no further action outside. Early doors, our visitors had been reduced to a score of 12-2..and were recovering nicely too!!

Finally, our 1st XI were soundly beaten at Usk.

Taking first strike, the home side raced to 95 before the 1st wicket fell, and continued their pace of scoring with an exciting middle-order partnership of 104 from 12 overs..261-8 at the break. Sam Harris (3-41 from his 10 overs) was the pick of the visiting bowlers.

In reply, opener Elliott Oates (a circumspect 47, 4 fours) was comfortably the top scorer during MCC’s reply of 124 all out in the 37th over. Defeat by 137 runs.

Next week, the 1st XI go to Penarth, the 2nd XI welcome Ynystawe to Marespool and our ‘A’ XI journey to Morriston.

PS – If, for whatever reason, you’ve never heard of the legend that was “Bomber” Harris, go Googling!
