2020 FIXTURES UPDATE!

The Prime Minister and the ECB have given the go-ahead for club cricket fixtures to be played in England from Saturday 11th July. It is hoped that the Welsh Government will make a similar announcement asap for clubs in Wales to follow suit!

We so look forward to seeing our loyal members and players at Marespool once again in the near future!

  • Owing to a lack of suitable response from member clubs, and despite its best efforts, the South Wales Junior Cricket League has now decided that they cannot after all run a curtailed league programme as they had hoped
  • There is, however,  a lot of work being done behind the scenes by Cricket Wales and the clubs, including MCC of course, to arrange both Senior and Junior friendly fixtures for the month of August and into September
  • Welsh Government and weather permitting (?!), our 1st XI, 2nd XI, ‘A’ XI and most Junior XIs will turn out against, for example, fellow Premier League clubs Swansea, Ammanford, Gorseinon, Pontarddulais and Carmarthen, commencing Saturday 1st August.
  • The full fixture list will be confirmed here and on our social media channels as soon as possible
  • No decision has yet been made regarding the timing of the return of the Club to the provision of liquid refreshments to members..there is much to consider first

What is absolutely certain is that the many regulations governing both the playing of matches and the serving of bar products will mean that activity at Marespool will take on a very different look ufn when it does return.

We would therefore respectfully ask that all our members and visiting opponents understand (a) the constraints within which our volunteer helpers throughout the Club will have to work, both on and off the field, and (b) what is expected from everybody to ensure we can each have some fun once again in as safe an environment as possible.
