As widely anticipated, the South Wales Premier Cricket League has cancelled this season’s League Programme

Please see Chairman Paul Morgan’s Statement below.

To all SWPCL member clubs.

I am writing to confirm that at the June management committee meeting it was decided to terminate the SWPCL fixture programme for the 2020 season.

Before reaching this decision we have been studying advice given by the UK Government, Welsh Government, EWCB, Glamorgan Cricket and Cricket Wales. We are grateful to the EWCB, Glamorgan Cricket and Cricket Wales for their support.

We are hopeful that this decision will allow our member clubs to arrange fixtures locally and facilitate the playing of as much cricket as possible if/when games are allowed to take place.

It is hoped that the allocated Glamorgan players will still have a role with their clubs but this involvement will be determined by Glamorgan.

Management meetings will continue virtually For the foreseeable future and we hope that by December we will be able to hold our AGM in the usual way.

Clearly this is not the way we would have wished to start the SWPCL’s second decade, however I am confident that the strength and resilience of our member clubs will serve us well when we return to competition in 2021.

In the meantime I would like to express my best wishes to all SWPCL clubs their members and families.

Paul Morgan, Chairman, SWPCL.

Further updates will be posted here re possible friendly fixtures being arranged in due course
