‘A’ XI CANTER HOME!

Our ‘A’ XI started their truncated season’s campaign with a truly impressive 7 wicket win at Port Talbot Town CC this afternoon (2nd)!

After winning the toss, skipper Paul Kenealy did not hesitate to opt to field first and his eight bowlers did not let him down. PTT were summarily bowled out for 150 in the 32nd of their 40 overs.

MCC’s Phil Roche, socially distancing, during one of his team’s many breaks to sanitise the ball whilst fielding

Alex Davies (2-40), Kaps (2-18), Rhys Davies (2-19), Jack Rymer (1-22), Andrew Sims (1-23), PK (1-4) and Phil Roche (1-8) shared the wickets.

After the tea break, the MCC scoreboard soon read 3-1 but Carl Lawrence (42, 6 fours) and Sean Davies (30, 4 fours) added 74 to steady the nerves. 74-2 soon became 77-3 with both openers back in the hutch! Uh-0h…what next?

Well, have no fears, folks…16 year old Adam Lewis-Williams and the never-to-see-16 again Paul Kenealy duly steered the ship home in the 36th over, with an undefeated partnership of 68. ALW smashed 37no (5 fours) whilst PK crafted a serene 17no (1 four) to take the final plaudits!

A great all-round effort from the classic mix of MCC youth and experience…some with a lot of experience!
