Well, there ya go..another cricket season bites the dust!<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

And, what dust there was! For weeks on end, Marespool was impossible to tell apart from the sand on our glorious Gower beaches, such was the blistering effect of the seemingly never-ending sunshine & heat on the usual lush grass!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

THEN<\/span>, oh irony of ironies, pretty well every Senior fixture throughout South Wales was washed out on the final Saturday (29th) last weekend by the returning torrential rain!! Our three matches were called off mid-morning – could have been earlier to be honest!<\/strong><\/p>\n

So, what of the season past?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Great fun was had throughout the Club on the field with so<\/span> many notable performances and excitement, especially during the second half of term!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Just impossible to highlight any in particular, although mention must be made of our busy Junior Section, where our Under 17 Squad won their Junior League Zone and the Under 15 Blues were narrowly defeated by Gowerton in their Welsh Cup Zone Final West! Great credit to all our young cricketers and slightly older coaches & assistants for the hard work put in and for the enthusiasm generated! We salute you all!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Away from the pitches, a global heartfelt “thanks a mill” once again this year from the many to the comparatively few! That number of loyal, hard-working contributors off the field is growing however, so important if our high standard of facilities, reputation and Club spirit is to be maintained! No names (there are too many!) but the ladies and gents know who they are – we are all so proud of you for what you do for MCC!<\/strong><\/p>\n

As at all sports clubs, availability of funds is the key factor to simply existing and, when prudent, further developing. Apart from our bar income and various fund-raising efforts, sincere thanks must go to our many advertisers and sponsors as always. It is very hard to come up with fresh ways of expressing gratitude towards them, or anyone for that matter – a heartfelt “diolch yn fawr iawn” surely <\/em>covers all bases!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Finally, VERY MANY<\/span> thanks to our 500+ Members of all ages for your amazing and important loyalty to the cause!<\/strong><\/p>\n

PS<\/span> – Post-season work is about to start on our square at Marespool, as well as efforts to improve the outfield drainage at the top end of the ground.
