And the main man here was James Harris with a masterful knock of 125no (16 fours!)! The supporting cast comprised 14-year-old Ed Harris (22, out of 86 for the 1st wicket) and Jaden Patel (38, 3 fours), who added 94 with James for the 2nd wicket.

Following tea, BFS were never really in the hunt as Kaps’ bowlers each bowled tightly. The skipper opened the bowling, conceding a mere 5 runs in his spell of 5 overs, whilst partner-in-crime Dave Martin yielded just 15 in his opening burst of 5! The wicket takers were 17-year-old Macsen Denman (2-36), 14-year-olds Dan Board (2-20) & Tom Phillips (1-33) and Jaden (1-37). BFS 165-6 at the close!

Superb stuff, people!

Meanwhile, just as our 1st XI appeared to be making light weather of a post-interval chase “up the road”, Abergavenny stole the show to win by 32 runs!

Opting to field first, Aneurin Norman’s team spent a fair bit of time watching home skipper Will Glenn craft a fine knock of 156no off 143 balls! Our hosts were 37-3 at one point, followed by 86-4. However, more than useful useful partnerships of 42, 105 & 28 (undefeated) brought about a decent total of 261-6 on this lovely ground. The Captain (2 wickets), Kaesh Vigneswaran, Max Phillips, Jack Straw & Greg Thomas (1 each) took the wickets that fell, whilst Sean Davies held two catches & took a stumping.

In reply, Aneurin & Luke Smith got the 1st XI off to a flying start, with an opening partnership of 137, before Luke (48 off 54 balls. 6 fours) was dismissed in the 19th over! “Noddy ” carried on his way!

Our second fell in the 24th over – 162-2. At 186-2 at the start of the 28th, the expectations were high. THEN, the Captain was dismissed..107 scored from 89 balls faced, with 11 fours & 6 sixes! Just magnificent!

However, Aneurin ended up the losing captain!
