{"id":17703,"date":"2023-07-01T18:34:30","date_gmt":"2023-07-01T18:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mumblescricket.com\/?p=17703"},"modified":"2023-07-02T13:03:52","modified_gmt":"2023-07-02T13:03:52","slug":"m-s-are-the-best","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mumblescricket.com\/?p=17703","title":{"rendered":"M &#038; S ARE THE BEST!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Fairly simple\/succinct reports re today&#8217;s matches, dear readers!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The only win was chalked up by Eurig Mogs&#8217; &#8216;A&#8217; XI at Murton where his lads saw off Llantwit Major Cavaliers by 74 runs!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Batting first, our guys were inna bit of bovver at 34-6 &amp; then 67-6 halfway through their 40 overs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>THEN, Stuart &#8216;Seats&#8217; Seaton and 15 year old Malachi Williams touched gloves and tucked into a magnificent feast of runs! They added 163 for the 7th wicket, ending 80no (8 fours &amp; 2 sixes) &amp; 69 (9 fours) respectively! MCC 199-7 at the break after Malachi was run out at the very end.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In reply, Llantwit were never really in the frame..125 all out in the 21st over. Alan Harris (2-19), Captain Morgan (4-41, including his first hattrick, reducing The Cavaliers from 47-3 to 47-6!), Tony Dowrick (3-23) and Geraint Hodges (1-0) shared the 10 wickets! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>After the dust had settled, Eurig summed the performance up as &#8220;another victory rescued from the jaws of defeat&#8221;!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><em>WELL DONE OURE LADS!<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>At Marespool, the 2nd XI played host to Clydach.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Before tea, our boys chose to bat first and put together a decent total of 231-9 from their 45 overs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The first wicket fell at 34 but then those present enjoyed a fine partnership of 108 between Gareth Baglow (74, 12 fours &amp; 2 sixes) and Ben Jones (44, 2 fours)..142-2.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>There followed a slump as four wickets fell in quick succession &#8211; 164-6. Down the order, however, it was left to Vineet Sabharwal (24, 3 fours) and Rhys Davies (26no (4 fours) to restore respectability at the interval.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>In turn, Clydach&#8217;s start was &#8220;wobbly&#8221; as Rhys reduced our guests to 16-1. Unfortunately, the MCC optimism at this point was not to last!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>There must have been something in the teatime sarnies that appealed to the visitors&#8217; batters from then on! Thanks to excellent batting by Nicky Fisher (119no) and McKenzie Squires (63no), Clydach truly raced to victory by 9 wickets with 14 overs to spare!! Fair play!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Finally, at Cowbridge, our 1st XI came second, by several lengths.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Put into bat, acting Captain Jack Straw watched his team being rolled over for 52. <\/strong><strong>In reply, our hosts roared to their 10 wicket victory inside 5 overs! No more to add!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Saturday (8th), the 1st XI welcome Clydach to Marespool, the 2nd XI travel to Neath and the &#8216;A&#8217; XI make their way to Pontarddulais.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fairly simple\/succinct reports re today&#8217;s matches, dear readers!
