{"id":1099,"date":"2011-08-22T10:45:08","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T10:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mumblescricket.com\/?p=1099"},"modified":"2011-08-22T16:33:59","modified_gmt":"2011-08-22T16:33:59","slug":"under-16s-fall-at-final-hurdle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mumblescricket.com\/?p=1099","title":{"rendered":"Under 16s Fall at Final Hurdle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our Under 16s were defeated by 9 wickets when they took on Carmarthen Wanderers at Pontarddulais C.C.\u00a0in the South Wales Junior Cricket U16s\u00a0League Final for the \u00a0Bill Edwards Cup.<\/p>\n<p>After being put in to bat on a low slow wicket,\u00a0Mumbles suffered an early setback when Jack Lee was dismissed in the first over. Ross Greenwood with a brisk\u00a029, and skipper Ieuan Rosser\u00a0\u00a0pushed the score along\u00a0to 42 for 1 from 8 overs against some accurate Carmarthen bowling, before Greenwood was brilliantly caught by Brooke off spinner Owain\u00a0Binding. Rosser was then run out for 13\u00a0, and with Luke Brown quickly departing Mumbles found themselves in trouble at 51 for 4 from 12 overs. \u00a0A\u00a0run a ball partnership of 59 for the 5th wicket between Ben Francis (27) and Matthew Shepherd (32) saw Mumbles regain the initiative and close on 113 for 6\u00a0from thier 20 overs.<\/p>\n<p>When Carmarthen batted, openers Jack Maynard and Daniel Jones\u00a0totally dominated the Mumbles attack, putting on 111 for the 1st wicket.
