End of Term Report!

Season 2017 came to a close yesterday (26th)….and what a great season it was for our Senior sides!

  • The 1st XI finished in 7th spot in the Premier League & reached both the Welsh Cup semi-final and the SWPCL T20 Finals at the SWALEC Stadium
  • The 2nd XI won their Premier League Divisional Title
  • The ‘A’ XI ended as SWCA Division 6 Champions & SWCA Intermediate Cup semi-finalists

Full details of yesterday’s games can be found as usual on www.mumbles.play-cricket.com but basically the 1st XI lost to Bridgend by 3 wickets at Marespool, the 2nd beat Swansea by 98 runs at St Helen’s and the ‘A’ XI were defeated by 4 wickets at Dyffryn.

Somebody is bound to be left out now but let’s give it a go!

The Club obviously cannot function without the extraordinary contribution of many many volunteers so it is only fair to thank everyone who has played their part this season, namely:

Mark Portsmouth, Laura Aingworth, Ryan Aingworth, Nikki Harris, Steve Davies, Tony Dowrick, Warren Lloyd, Nik Patel, Phil Roche, John Williams, Stuart Jones, Grant Winter, Terry Stone, Aneurin Norman & his players, Stuart Seaton & his players, Alex Protheroe & his players, Dave Thomas, John Courtney, Roger Jones, Gareth Jones, Dave White, Karen Phillips, Peter Sheldon, Gill Sheldon, The Aberdare Boys, Josie Greenwood, Ken Nelson, Sue Nelson, Allan Baglow, Simon Lloyd, Nick Blyth, John Blyth, John Purnell, Roy Probert, John Beer, Paul Kenealy, Ann Morgans of LBGC, Claire Cole of The Swansea Marriott, all those who have helped behind the new bar, our many sponsors & advertisers, Graphic Realm Printers, JEM Print, all the building contractors who produced The Marespool Suite, our numerous suppliers and finally…..our extremely loyal members and supporters!

If you feel that anyone has been unwittingly overlooked, please do not hesitate to let me know!

What is different from now on of course is that the Club will be opening during the autumn and winter for our own use as well as for use by the wider community. (Details of opening out of season will be published as time goes on).

This in turn means that various help will be required on an on-going basis to make this happen. So, if you have any spare time at all and want to contribute to the great cause, please do get in touch with one of the Club’s Officers to chat.

MANY THANKS!
